There are some cars that look like they’re breaking every speed limit available even when they’re perfectly still. The all-new Ford GT is firmly in that category. I mean, just look at those lines! You know instantly that the car’s bonkers. The blue oval boys have actually lightened the new GT, sculpted a brand-new body for better aerodynamics, then they fitted the car with a 600hp EcoBoost V6. That last word before the ‘V6’ isn’t a typo – they’ve actually loaded an EcoBoost engine to the new GT in the interest of fuel economy and of Mother Earth. The most powerful EcoBoost that Ford has developed is mounted midway into the GT and it’s coupled to a seven-speed, dual-clutch transmission for quick shifts. Wrapping around the car is a curved windshield that resembles the cockpit of a fighter plane. The entire tub is made of carbon fiber which means this GT is lightweight but extremely strong. The enormous wheels are loaded with tires that are designed specifically by Michelin to handle the brutal forces that this car will no doubt endure. Stopping is taken cared of by four carbon ceramic disc brakes with Brembo calipers. Ford is upping the performance car ante and the new GT is coinciding with the 50th anniversary of Ford’s triumphant 1-2-3 finish at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1966. Without a doubt, one of the coolest features on the car are those upwards-opening doors. Come and take a look. Be sure to have extra towels on hand. $TBA.
