While December may be a joyous month, it’s also a time for remembering those who have paid the ultimate price in the name of war. Several battles have occurred in the same month in the past, most famous of which is of course the attack on Pearl Harbor. Our Christmas came a bit early this year when we received a watch from Belgium to review, and we didn’t have to endure the draft to receive it. It’s a timepiece that harks to that glorious era: the GAVOX Curtiss P-40, a stylish new watch that was inspired by instruments on aircraft that fought in WW II. Powered by a Seiko movement, the watch is slim at 8mm with a 316L stainless steel case. Three models will be available exclusively at One with a small seconds subdial, another with a military time and one with a calendar, each with its own charm. Having reviewed the watch, we can say that it looks and feels sturdy and rugged. Depending on the strap you choose, it can be great for military and sport use, or equally fitting for a night on the town (we liked the khaki strap the best). Its solid design rivals any military style watch and pays homage to those awesome planes from the Second World War. ~$225+.
