Fortunately, Maclocks have been thinking forward and they’ve designed the iPad Lock. The clear case is made of hard plastic that has a loop for a cable tether and lock combo. It’s less than a pound so you have no excuse to leave it at home. Maclocks say that the plastic case can break when yanked hard enough from the cable but will damage the iPad as well in the process, rendering it useless. $65.
