Memento Mori, Carpe Noctem

Halloween may be over for some people but there are others who feel like celebrating it for the whole year. While not everyone shares that passion, it can be agreed that anything with skulls on it can be beautifully haunting. That contrast is the whole idea for Daniel Strom and his new Memento Mori, Carpe Noctem wristwatch. No hints of flower power or any of that happy crap on this timepiece – it’s all skulls on an ornately-designed case. Death has its place in the world since it’s a fact that everything that’s living will eventually come to an end. Instead of being afraid of death, why not embrace it? And that’s the idea for this gorgeous watch. Using the Japanese art of ‘Urushi’ on the dial, the watch has hints of blood red for maximum effect. Breathing life into the watch is a Swiss-made ETA Calibre 2824 self-winding mechanical movement. Unlike watches where you can’t see the rubies that protect the moving parts, the Memento Mori, Carpe Noctem features the jewels as accents to the skulls on the ornate case. Only 99 of this special timepiece will be made so before time runs out, better get a hold of one. ~$15,350.
