This November Honda announced the development of the Ecological Drive Assist System, which combines three functions to enhance fuel economy: the ECON Mode utilizes harmonized control of the continuously variable transmission (CVT) and engine to support more fuel-efficient driving. The guidance function on the other hand, uses speedometer color to provide real-time guidance on fuel-efficient driving. And finally the scoring function provides feedback about current driving practices, as well as feedback on cumulative, long-term fuel-efficient driving. HS networks will soon bring near-PC functionality into your cars with the NAVist III. This is a double-DIN receiver that has a DVD drive and removable hard disk. This mobile accessory gadget can play movies and music saved on CDs and DVDs. It has a 7-inch screen to show the contents of the CDs, DVDs, and even those stored in SD cards or HDD. There is a USB connection allowing the user to transfer files from other devices. However, Navist III is currently only available in Korea, the company is gathering western distributors at the present time.

Looks like Siemens is working on some cool sci-fi car-parking solution called Park Mate. Using sensors, it will alert you when you pass a space that your car will fit into, and it will even take over and actually park it for you—steering all on its own.
