The Kawasaki KFX 450R is powered by a liquid cooled 449cc engine and sports a 32bit digital fuel injection system which reads coolant pressure, air intake temperature and pressure, engine speed, and throttle position to use the necessary amount of fuel for better performance output.

The new L-twin cylinder engine delivers much greater horsepower and torque. Compared with the Ducati 620, the 63 hp of the Ducati 620 has been increased to 73 hp for the Monster 695 which is the highest output per cubic centimetre of all Ducati air-cooled engines.
