2010 Porsche 911 Turbo

2010 Porsche 911 Turbo
Porsche once again displays their technological prowess with the release of the 2010 version of the 911 Turbo (or 997 in North America). For the same engine speed, the new 911 now delivers 500 hp and more torque than the car that came before it. Just how Porsche does it is still a mystery, but they’re willing to say that the twin turbos with Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) on the 6-cylinder boxer engine is the key to more power. But the additional pull doesn’t make the car less efficient, as the variable valve timing system makes the engine more fuel efficient and has 18% less emission. More power and better fuel efficiency with a smaller carbon footprint, Porsche definitely makes a great statement with their new car, albeit the same 911 shape. ~$168,000.

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550-2: Ready In The Bull Pen

Lamborghini Gallardo LP 550 2: Ready In The Bull Pen
No other test driver will have the same legacy as Lamborghini’s Valentino Balboni. The man was hired by Ferruccio Lamborghini himself and has tested all of the modern-day prototypes and some production models. In gratitude, Lamborghini is celebrating Valentino’s retirement by releasing the Gallardo LP 550-2. It’s the kind of bull that Valentino wants to ride, with a powerful V10 engine spinning the rear wheels exclusively. Veering away from the new all-wheel drive Lambos, Valentino’s version will guarantee a more spirited drive since it will have a tendency to stick its rear out. The 550hp engine is less powerful by 10hp from the other Gallardo but has a lighter curb weight so achieving great speed is all but certain. Only 250 of this ultra-special version will be made. $220,000.

Ariel Atom 500: Raw Power

Ariel Atom 500: Raw Power
Introducing the latest in face-removal technology – the Ariel Atom 500. Powered by an RS Development supercharged V8 generating 500 horsepower, this latest iteration from Ariel promises a whole new way of coaching your facial tissues into giving out your widest and silliest smile. Weighing at a feather-light 500 kilograms, the car translates to a 1000+ horsepower per ton ratio. What does that mean? Well, the previous Atoms have a sub-3 second 0-60 time so you can safely assume that the 500 will go even quicker. The 500 hp engine is coupled to a Sadev six-speed gearbox and the car will be stopped by Alcon brakes. No word on pricing yet but it will definitely be cheaper than the Porsches, Ferraris, and Lambos. Only this car will be double the fun. Wait for the Atom 500 but don’t say we didn’t warn you. $TBA.

GTA Spano: Iberian Wolf

GTA Spano: Iberian Wolf
Spain has become one of the last bastions of the European wolf. And now, there’s a new breed of howling beast that comes out of the country. Fifteen years of experience and five years of development gave birth to the GTA Spano, Spain’s answer to the other European supercars. At the heart of this road-going wolf is a GTA V10, able to produce 780 horsepower on regular gasoline, capable of running to 62 mph in 2.9 seconds from a standing start, onward to a top speed of 219 mph. Feed it with bioethanol and it becomes an alpha male with 840 horses. Shifting gears is a three-way choice between a 7-speed manual sequential, an automatic sequential paddle shift, or a traditional gated manual. Stopping the Spano are 6-piston AP Racing carbon ceramic brakes. So seek the wolf in thyself, and good luck in hunting one from the pack of 99 GTA Spanos. $670,000.
