The company d.light has created a solar lamp that’s been billed as the world’s most affordable solar lamp. The Kiran produces five times more light than a kerosene lantern and will run up to eight hours on the battery on the low setting and four hours on the high setting. The built-in solar panel recharges the battery and you can also plug it into an AC. d.light is an admirable company whose mission is to ‘enable households without reliable electricity to attain the same quality of life as those with electricity.’ $10.
