Showing their full commitment to the 1 format of cameras is Nikon with the introduction of the first interchangeable lens camera that’s waterproof and shockproof. The Nikon 1 AW1 looks like its predecessors, only this one’s able to dive down to 15 meters of water and can withstand a fall from 2 meters, well-within the specs of the MIL-STD-810F method. It’s fast too, capable of shooting up to 15 fps with AF tracking and when you lock the autofocus, it can shoot for 60 fps, at 20 frames per burst. This means that you can hunt down those elusive fish, provided you can actually see them. Nikon is also introducing two new waterproof lens to go along with the AW1, the 1 NIKKOR 10mm f/2.8 and the 11-27.5mm f/3.5-5.6 standard zoom. Needless to say, you can’t change either lens underwater. But you can load up other Nikon 1 lenses with you’re high and dry. The AW1 will come in three colors and Amazon lists the camera for an October 10, 2013 release. $797+.
