Sony Alpha A7s

At first glance, you’d probably assume that this is just another digital camera. But upon closer inspection, you’ll find out that the Sony Alpha A7s is a powerful device for shooting stills and video. The ‘s’ in the model’s name denotes ‘sensitivity’ and the A7s has that in bunches. It starts with the 12.2-megapixel full-frame Exmor CMOS sensor. Sony understands the futility of packing more pixels in a sensor and thereby sacrificing quality, which is why they kept the megapixel count on the A7s low. The camera more than makes up for that in key features. For still shooters, they’d be delighted to know that this has an astonishing ISO sensitivity from 50-409,600. This means that this camera is able to see in the dark. It does that without reducing dynamic range either, thanks to the sensor combined with the BIONZ image processor. It’s no secret however that the A7s is intended for those who like shooting video. The camera is able to record 4k video to an external device but will happily shoot 1080p videos, even at 60fps, on a compatible memory card. Switch the format to the crop mode and you can even shoot at 120fps at a standard HD resolution for a 5x slow-motion effect. All these and more in a package that’s smaller than your typical DSLR, thanks to the mirrorless design of the A7s. Watch out for pricing and release information right here for this amazing shooter. $TBD.
