Gitzo Carbon Fiber Monopod

Gitzo Carbon Fiber Monopod
Fast telephoto or zoom lenses (i.e. f/2.8 or lower) are absolute necessities for any self-respecting nature or sports photographer but they can be very heavy. What you need is a monopod that won’t add to the already heavy gear you’re burdened with. Such as this 1.1 pound Carbon Fiber Traveler Monopod from Gitzo. The light weight and durability of this monopod means you can lug around your gear anywhere you want in whatever situation. Of course, you’ll have to have a matching ball head for this but that’s another story altogether. $250.

Aston Martin Carbon Black

Aston Martin Carbon Black
You see a green car and you want it painted black. Aston Martin paints their famed DBS and V12 Vantage models in a deep metallic black finish, giving these models the more sinister look. The Vantage even features a real carbon fiber trim for the side strake with black mesh underneath. Blackened front grills and 10-spoke diamond-turned alloy wheels are found on both the DBS and Vantage. Inside, the black theme continues with Obsidian black leather interior detailed by silver stitching, handmade in England. Rocking sounds are delivered by Bang & Olufsen Beosound on the DBS while an ultra-premium 700w audio system on the Vantage. The Carbon Black edition also saves weight by installing Kevlar and carbon fiber seats. $TBD.

TVR Speed 12

TVR Speed 12
When the Bugatti Veyron just isn’t super enough or rare enough for you, TVR has probably the car for your taste. You’ve probably seen (or driven) the TVR Speed 12 from Gran Turismo and from videos circulating around the web, now you too can be in one of those videos when you buy this rare piece of engineering genius. Developed in 2000, the Speed 12’s immense power was demonstrated in several race cars and the manufacturers wanted to sell the same fury to the public. The plans were scrapped however and only this copy of the road car remained. It has an all carbon-fiber body, titanium parts for the rear end, a sequential gearbox, and 1,000 hp of automotive insanity. Only one of one, you can’t get any rarer than this. $TBD.

District Carbon Bike

District Carbon Bike
If you’re tired of greasing your pants after a nice bike ride, then maybe you should switch to a neater way to drive those bike wheels. Something like the District Carbon bike from Trek which uses a belt drive instead of a chain. The bike’s frame is made of Optimum Compaction, Low Void (OCLV) carbon fiber which is ultra-light yet ultra-strong. The sprockets too are made of carbon while the pedals are made of an alloy to further shave weight. All these come at a price though, but who can argue with the beauty of carbon fiber on a ride that’s this much fun? $3,360.

Oakley C Six

Oakley C Six
Oakley takes extreme to another extreme in developing the C Six. Made of extreme materials, the way those materials are used are nothing short of extreme in itself. While carbon fiber is usually molded into a cast, the C Six is made of a solid, 40-layer hunk of carbon fiber that’s CNC-machined to get the shape of the frame. Beta titanium is then added to the stem to provide the flexibility. Oakley is known for its lenses so the ones that they put in the C Six should also be the best that they have manufactured to date. The sheer amount of labor involved in the production of the C Six means that only 250 samples will be made. $4,000.
